FPL Intermodal Bridge:
A new bridge is being built over the existing FPL discharge canal in Midport to connect the dockside of the existing Midport area to the backlands west of the FPL discharge canal in Southport. Currently, containerized cargo that needs to get to Southport from the Midport dock area must utilize the existing Eller Drive roadway which requires leaving and then re-entering the secure area of the Port. By constructing the bridge, container traffic will be able to make this movement without leaving the secure area of the Port. This project is slated to be completed by summer 2010. An estimated 236 construction jobs have been created for this project.
Five-Year Master Plan Projects
Northport/Convention Center Carve Out:
The Port Everglades Master/Vision Plan included a recommendation to carve out the Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward Convention Center from the secure area of the Port. This recommendation included revisions to the boundary of the Northport Development of Regional Impact as well as the implementation of a bypass road in Northport.
Spangler Boulevard/Eisenhower Boulevard Bypass Road:
This project involves the construction of a new bypass road along Spangler Boulevard and Eisenhower Boulevard to allow unrestricted access for vehicles traveling to the Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center and/or to 17th Street Causeway from U.S.1. Convention Center traffic currently must pass through a security checkpoint to enter and through traffic is prohibited. The Phase I portion of the project consists of the relocation of the current security checkpoint on Eisenhower Boulevard to a new location south of the Convention Center so that it is removed from the Port's security perimeter. Phase II of the project would complete the entire bypass road. The initial construction estimates are $2 million for Phase I and $30 million for Phase II.
Northport Parking Garage Improvements - Phase IV:
Ongoing capital maintenance improvements are planned for the Northport Parking Garage. This project will consist of a variety of structural improvements to the facility. The current construction estimate for the project is $1.7 million.
Petroleum Tanks:
The Port is initiating a competitive selection process for a land lease for an out-of-service liquid bulk terminal facility. This could result in a $50+ million private construction project for new petroleum tanks.
Cruise Terminal Improvements for 2, 19, 21 & 26:
The Port is planning to make improvements to four existing cruise terminals that will be utilized by Carnival Corporation's cruise line brands. The project is multiphased and consists of construction improvements to existing buildings such as cruise terminal renovations, expansions, intermodal improvements, and the acquisition of additional passenger loading bridges.
Berth 33 Bulkhead Repairs and Slip 3 Toe Wall Improvements:
The Port will be installing new cathodic protection, replacing bulkheads, repairing a hole on the eastern wall of Berth 33A, and installing a new toe wall in front of the existing wall at Berth 13A. Project construction estimate is $5.67 million.

Puente intermodal de FPL:
Se está construyendo un nuevo puente sobre el actual canal de desagüe de FP&L en Midport, para conectar la dársena del área actual de Midport a la zona ubicada al oeste del canal de desagüe de FP&L en Southport. Escisión de Northport/Centro de Convenciones

Tanques petroleros:

Reparaciones al malecón del Atracadero 33 y mejoras al muro de contención inferior de la Grada 3
El Puerto va a instalar una nueva protección catódica, reemplazar malecones, reparar un agujero en la pared este del Atracadero 33A e instalar un nuevo muro de contención inferior frente al muro existente en el Atracadero 13A. El presupuesto para la construcción del proyecto es de $5,670,000.
