Unrivaled location, convenience and customer service come
together to make Port Everglades the finest in the world when
it comes to cruises. Back-to-back "World's Best" designations
by Porthole Cruise Magazine serve as a testament.
One of the busiest cruise ports in the world, Port
Everglades handles some 3-4 million cruise passengers a
year, and the Port expects to handle as many as 7 million
passengers annually by 2020.
Port Everglades is located at the gateway to Caribbean
cruise destinations and in the middle of the 6 million-resident
South Florida population center. Furthermore, the Port is
uniquely positioned next to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood
International Airport. Cruise passengers arriving by car
benefit from parking garages conveniently located proximate
to cruise terminals.
With its turning basin just a half-hour from the open sea,
Port Everglades not only is convenient for cruise passengers,
but also is situated ideally for cruise lines.
Port Everglades' commitment to its cruise passengers is
personified by the fact that the Port employs two full-time
cruise services managers who are at cruise terminals assisting
passengers each time a cruise ship is in port, both for embarkation
and debarkation. This unique program, which is now in its
fifth year, is yet another reason why oceangoing vacationers
find their Port Everglades experience so pleasurable.

Currently, Port Everglades is advancing multiple terminal
projects to facilitate accommodation of increasingly large
cruise ships, including passengers and their luggage.
Passenger Terminal 2 was doubled in size this past year, while
additional projects will significantly expand Passenger
Terminals 4, 18, 19 and 21.
The Port already plays host to 15 cruise lines, with more
than 1,800 cruises annually. Port Everglades has the distinction
of being the port of choice for the introduction of the
world's newest, largest and most spectacular cruise ships.
Among the new vessels to be welcomed to the Port through
2008 are Costa's Fortuna, Princess' Emerald Princess and
Royal Princess , and Royal Caribbean's Navigator of the Seas.
The Port hosts a full range of traditional multi-day cruises, as
well as vessels on around-the-world itineraries. On January 10,
2007, declared by Broward County Mayor Josephus
Eggelletion, Jr. as "Royal Rendezvous Day," Cunard's legendary
Queen Mary 2 and Queen Elizabeth 2 both sailed from Port
Everglades on simultaneous, but different, world cruises.
Just a few weeks earlier, on December 23, 2006, Port
Everglades bested the world single-day passenger record it
had set three years earlier. A total of more than 46,000
passengers sailed to and from the Port on 13 ships on
December 23. That number is equivalent to more than
one-quarter of the population of Fort Lauderdale.
